The Alice is named after our grandmother, who defined elegance.  She always looked beautiful and kept a beautiful home, making sure everyone was comfortable and had all they needed.  There would always be a shrimp appetizer out on the counter for my brother who loved shrimp, new socks by the door for all our bare feet, and new clothes in the den for everyone to try on.  She took us out to restaurants, knew the names of the owners, and tipped everyone generously.  Grandma grew up on a farm during the Depression and knew the value of hard work.  She was a woman of great strength, courage, resourcefulness, and generosity.
